 Description: Between 1987 and 1997 I was what is sometimes called a Trailing Spouse. These days the more accepted term is Accompanying Partner. The title does not matter. What matters is that I followed my husband, and later took our two children too, to three different countries. He pursued his career in the oilfield services industry. I was behind him, packing up and unpacking our possessions and my career at regular intervals. Did I give my husband, and his company a hard time? Of course I did. But I also decided that while I may have been an Expat Wife, I was not going to be an Expat Whinger, well, not in public, anyway.
